During the summer of 2023, our Heritage Works, Inc. had the great opportunity of hosting and training three paid youth interns in Brunswick, GA. Amongst the many activities and field trips- the most inspiring were our visits to University of Georgia’s Marine Extension and Sea Grant’s laboratory. It is during these visits that Ladies & Lads in Lab Coats was birthed.
On June 21, 2024, our first session of Ladies in Lab Coats launched with the hopes of sustaining a close connection with participants. By September, we expanded this program to include youth of both genders who were interested in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) . With much success and support from our partners in education, we have established our first cohort of brilliant minds who are our next generation of STEAM professionals, tradespeople, and entrepreneurs. We take pride in the relationships that we continue to cultivate in our immediate community and region.
As we move forward in our mission to empower, uplift, and revitalize the Gullah Geechee Georgia coast- we look forward to sustaining this dynamic initiative in both Glynn County and McIntosh County! We need your help in making this goal possible for the longevity of our community project.
As we get closer to #givingtuesday , we are reaching out to you to assist us in keeping this flame burning!
